Sheung Lee, piano

BIOGRAPHY

Sheung Lee received his musical training at the Royal Academy of Music (UK) and was awarded the Christian Carpenter Prize in Piano Accompaniment – he was greatly indebted to his teacher Julius Drake, a celebrated pianist specialised in the field of chamber music. Sheung’s performances were described as “engaging, arresting, effective and enjoyable”.

During his stay in the UK, his passion in songs led to diverse performances at several major British conservatoires including the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, Royal Northern College of Music, and Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Upon his return to Hong Kong, Sheung has collaborated with many outstanding artists for Western art songs and chamber music concerts, both in Hong Kong and internationally. Recent highlights included “Songs before Sleep” at Hong Kong City Hall, “Charms of Love” at The Helena May, “Dreams & Passions” at Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, “The Secret Gift” at Shanghai Concert Hall, and chamber music series “Inspirational Liaisons” at Carnegie Hall, New York. Upcoming concert schedule include song cycles of Schubert and Schumann.

Sheung obtained his Master of Arts in performance from the Royal Academy of Music. He has served as the Director of Programme Development of the Royal Academy of Music Hong Kong Alumni Association since 2010. He is currently the Managing Director of Vantage Music Limited, supporting local and overseas development of the organisation.
